The stage adaptation of Let the Right One In, adapted by Jack Thorne, will cross the pond and come to New York next year. Brooklyn's St. Ann’s Warehouse will present the chilling drama, which is directed by Once Tony winner John Tiffany with Tony-nominated choreographer Steven Hoggett, whose work can be seen in The Last Ship, The Curious Incident and Once, as associate director. Performances will run from January 20, 2015 through February 15.
The play premiered at the National Theater of Scotland in June 2013 before heading to London's Royal Court Theatre in November. Earlier this year, the play made its West End premiere at the Apollo Theatre. Cast members from the previous U.K. stagings will reprise their performances in New York, though further details have yet to be announced.
Based on the novel and screenplay by John Ajvide Lindqvist, Let the Right One In follows Oskar, a loner who is bullied at school and Eli, a troubled new neighbor of Oskar’s. When a series of murders plagues the neighborhood, the two form a deep connection as kindred spirits. Soon, the shocking truth about Eli tests OSckar’s loyalty and love.
The production will feature set design by Christine Jones, lighting design by Chahine Yavroyan, sound design by Gareth Fry and special effects by Jeremy Chernick.
