Here's a quick roundup of stories you may have missed today.
Go Behind Kristin Chenoweth's Alternative 'Popular'
Kristin Chenoweth takes you behind-the-scenes of her Coming Home concert below. As well as pics of Broken Arrow, it contains a sneak peek of “Popular” that well, might not be the popular version you’re used to hearing! As previously reported, the Tony winner’s show will be broadcast on PBS November 28. Wishing you could see the Broadway baby live? Chenoweth will be back on the Great White Way in On the Twentieth Century from February 12, 2015!
Another TV Phantom In The Works
You wait forever for a television adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera and then two come along at once. Or something. Deadline reports that this version will be written by Tony Krantz and directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amelie). Set in the early 20th century, the “Phantom” will be a British World War I fighter pilot covered in burns, while the “Opera” will be a Paris nightclub. This is not to be confused with the previously reported ABC pilot, which revolves around the modern day music business. Or the stage musical.
Bernadette Peters Invites You to Downton
This is an irresistible combination! Three-time Tony winner Bernadette Peters will host PBS’ Downton Abbey Rediscovered on November 30. The show will feature some of the best bits from the first four seasons of the Brit drama as well as take a look at the upcoming fifth season, which will air from January 4, 2015. We’d love to see Peters sparring with Dame Maggie Smith on Downton—can someone make it happen, please?
Have Faith with Wicked's Mary Testa
We believe! Wicked’s Mary Testa and Tony winner Michael Starobin will release a new CD, Have Faith, on Ghostlight Records. The album will be available in stores and via online outlets on December 2—check out the track “Pink” below.
