Carolee Carmello will fly second to the right and straight on to Broadway! The Tony nominee will join the previously reported Matthew Morrison, Kelsey Grammer and Laura Michelle Kelly in Finding Neverland. She takes on the role of Madame du Maurier, reprising her performance from the American Repertory Theater production earlier this year. The new musical, directed by Diane Paulus, features music and lyrics by Gary Barlow and Eliot Kennedy and a book by James Graham. Performances begin on March 15, 2015 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
Carmello earned Tony nominations for her performances in Parade, Lestat and Scandalous. Her additional Broadway credits include Sister Act, The Addams Family, Mamma Mia!, Urinetown and Kiss Me, Kate. She will also appear in the world premiere of Tuck Everlasting, beginning January 21 at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre.
Based on the 2004 film written by David Magee, Finding Neverland follows the story of J.M. Barrie (Morrison) and his relationship with the family of widow Sylvia Llewelyn Davies (Kelly). Llewelyn Davies' children eventually became Barrie's inspiration to write Peter Pan. Opening night for Finding Neverland is set for April 15.
