The 39 Steps Will Return Off-Broadway in the Spring

The 39 Steps is returning off-Broadway to the Union Square Theatre! According to an Equity casting notice, the comic-thriller will begin previews on April 1, 2015 and officially open on April 9.

Adapted from the 1935 Hitchcock film thriller by Patrick Barlow and directed by Maria Aitken, The 39 Steps features a cast of four actors who reenact all of the characters, locations and famous scenes in the movie using just a few props and a lot of theatrical ingenuity and split second quick changes.

After beginning life in London, The 39 Steps received its American premiere in September 2007 at the Huntington Theatre Company in Boston. The show moved to the Roundabout Theatre Company’s American Airlines Theatre on January 4, 2008, transferred to the Cort Theatre on April 29, 2008, and then to the Helen Hayes Theatre on January 21, 2009. After closing on Broadway on January 10, 2010, The 39 Steps moved to New World Stages on March 25, 2010, where it played through January 16, 2011.
