NPH on John Cameron Mitchell's Hedwig Return
“I miss it a lot,” Neil Patrick Harris admits about his Tony-winning performance in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, however he’s looking forward to the show’s co-creator and original off-Broadway star John Cameron Mitchell returning to the role. Harris told Billboard: “getting to watch him do it is gonna be nothing short of hilarious because it's a grueling ride that we've created. It's much more physical than what he did initially, and now he's going to have to do it. So we'll see what scaffolding he'll actually climb!” Mitchell begins performances at the Belasco on January 21.
Go Into the Woods at Home
Time for an update on Rob Marshall’s big-screen adaptation of the Stephen Sondheim/James Lapine musical Into the Woods. After a strong start, the movie has now grossed $105 million in the U.S and more than $120 million worldwide, Box Office Mojo reports. If you haven’t yet been able to get enough of Meryl Streep James Corden, Emily Blunt, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Johnny Depp, Billy Magnussen and Lilla Crawford’s performances in movie theaters, the film will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD on March 24.
Gloria Estefan to Play Broadway
The rhythm is gonna get the Minskoff Theatre! Gloria Estefan & Miami Sound Machine: A Benefit Concert for Viva Broadway will take place on September 14. It’s all in aid of The Broadway League’s Viva Broadway initiative, an audience development partnership with the Hispanic community to help bridge the world of the Great White Way with Latino audiences around the country.
