Playwrights Horizons has unveiled its lineup for its 2015-16 season. Shows include the New York premieres of Hir by Taylor Mac and Familiar, a new play by playwright and The Walking Dead actress Danai Gurira.
Kicking off the season will be The Christians, the New York premiere of a new play by Lucas Hnath. Helmed by Les Waters and presented at the Mainstage Theater, the show will begin previews on August 28.
The second production of the season will be Mac’s Hir. Directed by theater director and performance artist Niegel Smith, the show will play the Peter Jay Sharp Theater, beginning October 2015.
Next up will be Marjorie Prime, from Orange is the New Black writer Jordan Harrison. Directed by Anne Kauffman, the new play will receive its New York premiere at the Mainstage Theater from November 2015.
Gurira's Familiar will make its New York premiere at the Mainstage Theater, beginning February 2016. The production will be directed by Rebecca Taichman.
From March 2016, Antilia Pneumatica will receive its world premiere at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater. The show is written by Anne Washburn and directed by Ken Rus Schmoll.
Finally, Indian Summer will make its world premiere at the Mainstage Theater from May 2016. Penned by Gregory S. Moss, the production will be helmed by Carolyn Cantor.
