Here's a quick roundup of stories you may have missed today.
Tina Fey & Amy Poehler Are the Lions of New York
When you stare at those lion statues at the New York Public Library, whose voices do you imagine? Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, right? Of course. The hysterical duo will lend their voices to Radio City’s New York Spring Spectacular as the two lionesses. As previously announced, you can also hear Whoopi Goldberg as the Statue of Liberty and Bella Thorne as the Alice in Wonderland statue in the show. Making video cameos will be several Big Apple celebs, including 50 Cent, John Leguizamo, Kelly Ripa and Martha Stewart. The show, beginning March 12, will also star (in the flesh) Laura Benanti, Derek Hough, Lenny Wolpe, Jared Grimes and, of course, the Rockettes.
Adam Kaplan, Donna Vivino & More Are Stars of David
Broadway alums Adam Kaplan (Newsies), Donna Vivino (Wicked), Bruce Sabath (Company) and Lori Wilner (On a Clear Day You Can See Forever) will celebrate the lives of some of entertainment’s finest Jewish personalities in Stars of David: Story to Song as part of the 20th Annual Annual Shabbat Shirah benefit concert at the Congregation Beit Simchat Torah, an LGBT congregation in New York. The quartet will pay tribute to the likes of Andy Cohen, Gloria Steinem, Fran Drescher and Joan Rivers with songs written by composers including Marvin Hamlisch, Jeanine Tesori and Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater. The show previously played off-Broadway in 2013. The February 22 event will honor Broadway producer Daryl Roth.
NPH Has Selfie Nightmares
Tony and Emmy Award winner Neil Patrick Harris is all ready to suit up for the Oscars on February 22, so he stopped by Ellen to get some last-minute tips from last year’s emcee. “Your selfie shot was the most spectacular, successful thing. It’s this horrible dark cloud above my head now,” Harris told DeGeneres. “How do you beat the selfie that broke the Internet? I see that in my nightmares!” It's OK, Neil. We hear Sienna Miller has weird show-related nightmares, too. Harris may not have Liza Minnelli squirming her way into a selfie this Sunday, but with Robert Lopez, Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Stephen Oremus and Rob Ashford on board, we’re certain the song-and-dance man will live up to his musical reputation.
