Smash star and Broadway.com Audience Choice Award winner Krysta Rodriguez revealed her fight with breast cancer on this week’s episode of the new Broadway.com cooking series Broadway Nosh. Alongside her longtime friend, Nosh hostess Kirsten Wyatt, Rodriguez talks about her new cancer-friendly diet, teaching viewers how to make "cauliflower mashed fauxtatoes," and just-launched fashion blog, "ChemoCouture" at KrystaCouture.com.
"In addition to performing, I’ve always had a passion for art, fashion, decoration and overall beautification," Rodriguez said. "Since being diagnosed with breast cancer in the fall of 2014 on the heels of my 30th birthday, I’m taking this passion of beautification to my treatment. I've always believed you feel better when you look better. ChemoCouture will be dedicated to all things fun and fashion, while being focused on the specific needs of those women going through chemo. My goal is to have us all feeling beautiful together, wherever you are in your life."
Rodriguez most recently starred on Broadway opposite Zachary Levi in the 2013 musical comedy First Date, and took Broadway.com viewers backstage with her popular video blog Kiss & Tell. She won a 2010 Broadway.com Audience Choice Award for Favorite Breakthrough Performance as Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family and also appeared on the Great White Way in Spring Awakening, A Chorus Line, In the Heights and Good Vibrations. TV viewers know her as Ana Vargas on the second season of NBC’s Smash.
