Tony Winner Neil Patrick Harris on Oscars Hosting Gig: 'I'm Sorry That I Read Twitter'

Neil Patrick Harris will always be our host with the most. But while he continually charms the pants off theater folks on Broadway’s biggest night, his stint as an Oscar emcee was a bit of a letdown. (Plus, Harris was the one without pants.) In an appearance on Live with Kelly & Michael, Harris admitted some regrets.

“I’m glad that it’s done and I’m sorry that I read Twitter,” the Tony winner said. On Monday afternoon, Harris took to Twitter to again express a similar sentiment: “My iPhone shattered the morning of the Oscars. I probably should have read more into that. #harbinger”.

Still, Harris was full of smiles the morning after the Academy Awards while chatting with the daytime duo, especially while discussing his tighty-whities Birdman bit. “I’m not one for crazy costumes. I don’t love it.”

Wait. Pause. That’s a lie and you know it, NPH.

Although he claims that there was “no sock” involved, Harris revealed that double-layered underwear was required so that “you couldn’t tell my religion.” Did the Academy not attend Hedwig?
