Special Olivier for Kevin Spacey
Tony and Oscar winner Kevin Spacey will be presented with a Special Award at the Olivier Awards on April 12 at London’s Royal Opera House. The honor will acknowledge the actor, director and producer’s extraordinary contribution to The Old Vic and to British theater. Congratulations, Mr. Spacey!
New Aladdin Company Member
Trevor Dion Nicholas will take over from Michael James Scott as the standby for Genie/Babkak in the Aladdin company from March 2015. Nicholas will be making his Broadway debut in the production—his regional credits include Big River and Ragtime.
Surflight Theatre Set to Shutter
The Jersey Shore’s Surflight Theatre filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on February 23. According to NJ.com, musicals have played at the venue for 65 years, but rising costs and damage from Hurricane Sandy contributed to Surflight’s troubles. We’re missing the Show Place Ice Cream Parlor already.
Ramin Karimloo & Will Swenson Could Be Twins
Well, Ramin Karimloo and Will Swenson have spent an awful lot of time together over the past year! Check out Karimloo’s Instagram photo below of the Les Miz stars arriving (accidentally, we presume) at their pre-show fight call in matching outfits. You can see them in person at the Imperial Theatre.
