Another date for your calendar! The Drama League has announced that the 81st Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony will take place on May 15 in the Broadway Ballroom at the Marriott Marquis Times Square.
The eligibility cut-off date will be on April 19, with the nominee announcement taking place on April 21 at Sardi's for Outstanding Play, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Musical and the Distinguished Performance Award.
First awarded in 1922 and formalized in 1935, The Drama League Awards are the oldest theatrical honors in America. They are the only major theatergoer awards chosen by audience members—specifically, by the thousands of Drama League members nationwide who attend Broadway and Off-Broadway productions.
Last year Tony winner Neil Patrick Harris took home the top honor, winning the Drama League Distinguished Performance Award for his performance in Hedwig.
