Emmy nominees and Broadway alums Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Anna Chlumsky will host the 2015 Lucille Lortel Awards this spring. The 30th annual ceremony is set to take place on May 10 at the NYU Skirball Center. Nominations for the celebration of all things off-Broadway will be announced on April 2.
Ferguson is five-time nominee for his performance on ABC’s Modern Family. He made his Broadway debut in On the Town and went on to appear in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Chlumsky recently made her Broadway debut in You Can’t Take It With You. And she seems to have been bitten by the theater bug that resides in the Longacre Theatre, as she’ll also appear in Living on Love there this spring. The former My Girl star has received two Emmy nominations for Veep.
In addition to the award’s competitive categories, the ceremony will pay tribute to three theater stalwarts. Tony-winning It’s Only a Play playwright Terrence McNally will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, composer Jeanine Tesori, whose music will be heard on Broadway this season in Fun Home, will be inducted into the Playwrights’ Sidewalk in front of the Lucille Lortel Theatre, and general manager Nancy Nagel Gibbs will receive the Edith Oliver Service to Off-Broadway Award.
Last year, Here Lies Love led the pack with five awards, while the now Broadway-bound Fun Home took home the award for Outstanding Musical. Additional winners including Will Eno’s The Open House for outstanding play and Hand to God star Steven Boyer (who will reprise his performance uptown beginning later this month.
