Looks like Broadway could be getting a new power player. British theater bigwig Howard Panter and his Ambassador Theatre Group are in talks to take over and renovate the Hudson Theatre in the Hudson Hotel, the New York Post reports.
ATG, which controls 40 theaters in Britain and Asia, are also looking to buy the Times Square Theater, where Broadway 4D had been supposed to run. As Broadway.com exclusively first reported, the project, which starred Hugh Jackman, Christina Aguilera and more, ran into trouble last year.
ATG already own the Great White Way’s Lyric Theatre, where On the Town is currently playing. “The Shuberts” own 17 Broadway houses, followed by “The Nederlanders” who operate nine theaters and Jordan Roth’s Jujamcyn, which holds five.
