Two of our Broadway faves together—this is going to be a must see! Marissa Jaret Winokur has been tapped for the previously reported Megan Hilty ABC pilot. Deadline reports that the Tony winner will play a series regular role if the untitled comedy gets picked up. Judah Miller, the writer and executive producer of the project, is married to Winokur.
The show follows Irene (Hilty), a flamboyant Tony-winning diva adjusting to being a suburban mom. She is forced outside her comfort zone when she realizes her son is more into sports than show tunes—he’s a natural-born competitive athlete. Winokur will play Donna, the ultimate soccer mom and comedic foil to Irene.
Winokur won the Tony for Hairspray and has also appeared on Broadway in Grease. Screen credits include Stacked, Retired At 35, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Dancing With The Stars, Playing House and Melissa And Joey.
