The critically acclaimed U.K. stage adaptations of Hilary Mantel’s award-winning and best-selling novels Wolf Hall and its sequel Bring Up The Bodies begin Broadway previews on March 20. Penned by Mike Poulton and directed by Jeremy Herrin, the Royal Shakespeare Company productions will play in repertory re-named as Wolf Hall: Parts One and Two. The shows will officially open on April 9 at he Winter Garden Theatre.
Reprising their performances from the London production will be Ben Miles as Cromwell, Nathaniel Parker as Henry VIII and Lydia Leonard as Anne Boleyn. The plays had their RSC premiere at Stratford 's Swan Theatre before transferring to the West End's Aldwych Theatre. They chronicle the rise and fall of Thomas Cromwell from blacksmith's boy to Henry VIII's right-hand-man.
Tony winner Mark Rylance and Broadway alum Damian Lewis will be seen this April on PBS in the television adaptation of the books.
