Broadway fave Condola Rashad is in the money—the two-time Tony nominee's previously reported pilot Billions, headlined by stage and screen stars Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti, has been picked up! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Showtime has ordered 12 episodes of the hour-long financial drama. The series is set to start production in New York later this year and air in 2016.
Penned and executive produced by Brian Koppelman, David Levien and Andrew Ross Sorkin, the drama follows the looming clash between a hedge funder (Lewis) and the U.S. attorney ((Giamatti). Billions will also feature Broadway alum David Costabile.
Rashad was Tony nominated for The Trip to Bountiful and Stick Fly; she was last seen on the Main Stem in Romeo and Juliet. Showtime's former Homeland star Lewis made his Broadway debut in Hamlet and will soon be soon on the West End stage in American Buffalo. Giamatti’s Great White Way credits include The Iceman Cometh, The Three Sisters and Arcadia; he was Oscar nominated for Cinderella Man. Costabile was last seen on Broadway in 2007’s Translations.
