Bradley Cooper May Direct A Star is Born
Bradley Cooper is in talks with Warner Bros. to helm A Star is Born (you can probably guess which one of the two previous remakes is our fave). Variety reports that there's no word yet on whether the Broadway.com Audience Choice Award winner will star in the project and if Beyoncé, who was once attached, will rejoin. Cooper, who recently appeared in The Elephant Man on the Main Stem, will soon reprise his acclaimed performance in the play’s West End transfer.
Elaine Stritch Bio In The Works
New York Times fashion and features writer Alexandra Jacobs has penned a biography of the late Broadway legend Elaine Stritch and according to Deadline, the book was picked up by Alex Star, the senior editor at Straus & Giroux, for an estimated quarter- to half-a million dollars. Sounds like Jacobs could now become one of those ladies who lunch!
Bob Marley Musical Finds Its Star
Mitchell Brunings will play Bob Marley in the world premiere of Marley, the first original tuner based on both the life and music of the icon. Written and directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah, the production will play May 6 through June 14 at Center Stage in Baltimore. Sounds like this show will “Stir It Up!”
More Stage Faves Set for Chichester
This summer's Chichester Festival just got even buzzier! Niamh Cusack (The Curious Incident), Katherine Kingsley (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Jamie Glover (All's Well That Ends Well) and Edward Bennett (Hamlet) have been tapped for Jeremy Sams’ Chichester Festival revival of Jean Anouilh’s The Rehearsal. The savagely witty dissection of love, deception and the secret roles people really want to play will run at the Minerva Theatre May 8 through June 13, with opening night set for May 14.
