Tony winner Linda Lavin will star in the New York premiere of Our Mother’s Brief Affair as part of Manhattan Theatre Club’s 2015-16 Broadway season. Performances will begin on December 28 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Opening night is set for January 20, 2016. Lynne Meadow will direct.
Lavin took home a Tony Award in 1987 for her performance in Broadway Bound. She was also nominated for The Diary of Anne Frank, The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife, Collected Stories and The Lyons. Her additional Broadway credits include Something Different, Last of the Red Hot Lovers and Gypsy. She was nominated for an Emmy for the titular role in Alice.
Written by Richard Greenberg, Our Mother’s Brief Affair follows Anna (Lavin), who, while on the verge of death (again), confesses to her grown children about an affair from her past. Anna fights for her legacy as her family attempts to distinguish fact from fiction.
Additional information, including further casting and creative team, will be announced later.
