Lindsay Mendez and Gideon Glick are among the cast tapped for the world premiere of Joshua Harmon’s Significant Other. Joining them are Barbara Barrie, John Behlmann, Sas Goldberg, Carra Patterson and Luke Smith. Performances will begin on May 21 at the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre. The Roundabout production will open officially on June 18. Trip Cullman directs.
Mendez, a former Broadway.com vlogger, has appeared on the Great White Way in Wicked, Godspell, Everyday Rapture and Grease, as well as Dogfight and Saturday Night off-Broadway. Glick made his Broadway debut in Spring Awakening and has also appeared in Speech and Debate, Into the Woods and Wild Animals You Should Know. Barrie received a Tony nomination for her performance in Company; her additional Main Stem credits include The Selling of the President, The Prisoner of Second Avenue, California Suite and Torch Song Trilogy. Behlmann has appeared on the Great White Way in Journey’s End, as well as off-Broadway in Pretty Filthy and The 39 Steps. Goldberg’s previous credits include Stunning and The Best of Everything. Patterson returns to Roundabout after appearing in Little Children Dream of God. Smith appeared off-Broadway previously in Hit the Wall.
Significant Other explores the ups and downs (mostly downs) of singledom in the city. Jordan Berman (Glick) would love to be in love, but that's easier said than done. So until he meets Mr. Right, he wards off lonely nights with his trio of close-knit girlfriends. But as singles' nights turn into bachelorette parties, Jordan finds that supporting the ones you love can be just as impossible as finding love itself.
The play is scheduled to run through August 16. The production will feature set design by Mark Wendland, lighting design by Japhy Weideman, costumes by Kaye Voyce, sound design by Jill Du Boff and choreography by Sam PInkleton.
