Anne Hathaway Takes a 'Wrecking Ball' to Off-Broadway
Anne Hathaway, who begins off-Broadway performances on April 7 in Grounded, recently appeared on Lip Sync Battle and went all out. Of course she did, we know this about her after her hair-cutting, teeth-losing, Oscar-winning turn as Les Miz’s Fantine. Anyway, check out below as she “belts” out Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” complete with, well, a wrecking ball. We can’t wait to see what Hathaway does on the New York stage!
Morgan Freeman to be Honored by Actor's Fund
Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman will be honored alongside the previously announced Michael R. Bloomberg at The Actor’s Fund annual gala on May 11 at the New York Marriott Marquis. They will both receive The Fund’s Medal of Honor, the highest award given by the 133-year old non-profit human services organization serving everyone in performing arts and entertainment. Freeman was last seen on Broadway in 2008 in The Country Girl—we'd love to see him return soon…?!
B'way Alums Tapped for Darko Tresnjak's Kiss Me, Kate
Broadway alums Mike McGowan (Priscilla Queen of the Desert) and Anastasia Barzee (Urinetown) will star as Fred/Petruchio and Lilli/Kate, respectively, in Kiss Me, Kate at Hartford Stage and then San Diego’s Old Globe this summer. The previously reported production of the classic Cole Porter musical, helmed by A Gentleman’s Guide’s Darko Tresnjak, will run May 14 through June 14 in Connecticut before heading out west July 1 through August 2.
