The Tony Awards will award three Broadway industry stalwarts with the 2015 Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theater. This year’s honorees are scenic artist Arnold Abramson, theatrical publicist Adrian Bryan-Brown and technician Gene O’Donovan. The trio will accept their awards at a reception on June 1 prior to the June 7 telecast.
Abramson has painted sets for over 600 Broadway productions. His many credits include the original production of The King and I, My Fair Lady, Sunday in the Park with George and 42nd Street. He retired in 2012.
Bryan-Brown launched the press office Boneau/Bryan-Brown with Chris Boneau in 1991. The season, he has served as the chief press representative for Something Rotten, Gigi, The Audience, The Elephant Man, The Illusionists, Disgraced, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and Holler If Ya Hear Me. His wife, photographer Joan Marcus, received a Tony Honor last year.
O’Donovan, through Aurora Productions, which he founded in 1993, has supervised over 200 Broadway productions as either production manager or technical supervisor. Current shows he has worked on include The Phantom of the Opera, The Book of Mormon and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
Nominations for the competitive Tony Award categories will be announced on April 28.
