Louis C.K. Eyes Broadway
Louis C.K. might be adding a couple more job titles to his existing ones of comedian, editor, writer, producer, director and actor—Broadway star and playwright! “If somebody said to me, ‘Here's a part in a play,’ I'd definitely try it, and some day I'd like to try to write one,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “That's a huge mystery to me. Every time I go to a Broadway play of any kind—good or bad—as soon as the lights go out and people come onstage and start to speak, I start to cry. I can't help it.” While we wait for the multi-talented performer, the latest series of Louie will air on FX from April 9.
Kathy Bates Set for American Horror Story: Hotel
Kathy Bates will return to American Horror Story for its fifth installment, Hotel, according to creator Ryan Murphy’s Twitter feed. The Tony nominee and screen fave will join the previously announced, Matt Bomer, Cheyenne Jackson, Lady Gaga and more.
Intimate Theater Redefined
Think you've experienced up close and personal theater before? Think again! New plays by An American in Paris’ Craig Lucas, Will Eno, Lynn Nottage, Jose Rivera, Thomas Bradshaw, Zayd Dohrn and Emily Schwend are set to receive their world premiere inside a mobile 4-by-8-foot theater. One actor will perform one short play for just one audience member at a time. The original plays comprise I'm Not the Stranger You Think I Am and will be performed for free at three public venues throughout Manhattan from May 18–June 6.
Hello Kitty Takes the Stage
This caught our eye because if SpongeBob can be eyeing Broadway, anything is possible. Hello Kitty Live: Fashion & Friends will make its world premiere at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on October 8 before touring around the U.K. Under the creative direction of Richard Lewis and choreographed by Del Mak, the pop show will feature artists including Bruno Mars and Kylie Minogue.
James Corden's Crosswalk Grease Is The Word!
Surely James Corden must be the obvious choice for hosting the Tony Awards? He's won a Tony, has emceed the BRITS (the U.K.'s version of the Grammys) five times and is killing it on The Late Late Show, which airs on the same network as the Tonys, CBS. In this latest video, below, he puts together a crosswalk version of Grease. It has to be seen to be believed and no doubt he'll be joining Julianne Hough and Gigi's Vanessa Hudgens in the upcoming live broadcast. Then again...
