Nominations for the 60th Annual Drama Desk Awards were announced on April 23 by Tony winners Judith Light and Jessie Mueller. Hamilton topped the list with 13 nods, with An American in Paris and Something Rotten! receiving 12 and nine nominations, respectively. The awards ceremony, which honors Broadway, off-Broadway and off-off-Broadway productions, will be held on May 31 at The Town Hall. For the second consecutive year, Tony winner Laura Benanti will host.

The 2015 Special Awards will be presented to the ensemble of The Wayside Motor Inn (Kelly AuCoin, Jon DeVries, Quincy Dunn-Baker, Rebecca Henderson, Marc Kudisch, Jenn Lyon, Lizbeth Mackay, David McElwee, Ismenia Mendes and Will Pullen,) playwright Bess Wohl (who will receive the Sam Norkin Off-Broadway Award,) John Douglas Thompson (who appeared in Tamburlaine the Great and The Iceman Cometh this season,) Ensemble Studio Theatre and Hamilton choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler.
Hand to God was first considered in 2012 for its first production at Ensemble Studio Theatre. New elements were considered in 2014 for the MCC production; no new elements were introduced for the Broadway transfer. Fun Home was considered for its off-Broadway run at the Public Theatre in 2014. Disgraced was first eligible in 2013, and only new actors and designers were eligible this year for the Broadway production. The 39 Steps, now off-Broadway as 39 Steps, was considered in 2008 for its Broadway production.
