Supergirl Lands Perfectly for Jeremy Jordan & Laura Benanti
Super news for Supergirl! According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new series, which features Broadway faves including Jeremy Jordan and Laura Benanti, has landed a prime Monday night 8PM spot on the CBS schedule right after football. The very thought of Jordan in his rumored Toyman supervillain outfit has gotten us trying to set our DVRs for November already... Check out the trailer here.
Darren Criss Crashes Les Miz Stage
Hedwig’s Darren Criss will (briefly!) switch Broadway houses on May 19! The former Glee star will take the stage at Les Miz’s home, the Imperial Theatre, to host the 10th Anniversary celebration of Broadway Junior, the Shubert Foundation/Music Theatre International arts education program. Students from Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens and Manhattan will perform song and dance numbers from their school versions of Broadway musicals, including Into the Woods JR, Disney’s Aladdin JR, Fame JR, Annie JR, Hairspray JR and Schoolhouse Rock Live JR.
Bradley Cooper Set for TV Recurring Role
Remember Bradley Cooper’s 2011 movie Limitless, where he took a pill that enabled him to access 100% of his brain’s abilities? The Wrap writes that the Tony nominee will reprise his character of Edward Mora in a TV adaptation for CBS. The series, which will be a sequel to the film, is set to star Jake McDorman, who is best known for his work on teen drama series Greek. Cooper's a busy man—he will begin performances on May 19 in the West End transfer of his Broadway hit, The Elephant Man.
Megan Hilty Pilot Not Picked Up
Not so great TV news for Broadway bombshell Megan Hilty and Tony winner Marissa Jaret Winokur. Their untitled comedy pilot, penned and executive-produced by Winkour’s hubby Judah Miller, is not moving forward at ABC, Deadline reports. However, silver linings: Hilty has hinted that she might be returning to the stage this fall and of course we have a certain Smash-ing concert to look forward to soon.
Tony Nominee Andy Karl Gets Arty
More young talent! On the Twentieth Century Tony nominee Andy Karl will emcee the fifth annual Student Theatre Arts Festival on May 18 at the American Airlines Theatre. The Education at Roundabout event will feature the work of students from 14 partner schools, representing the five boroughs of New York City. Between this and the Criss hosted occasion, we're sure that there'll be at least one or two future Broadway stars treading the boards next week…!
