Phantom Favorite Sarah Brightman Calls Off $52 Million Space Trip

Sarah Brightman isn’t going to be a Starship Trooper anytime soon. In a statement on her Facebook page it was announced that “for personal family reasons her intentions have had to change and she is postponing her cosmonaut training and flight plans at this time.”

The Phantom’s original Christine had been undergoing training at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Russia, with the intention of staging an Andrew Lloyd Webber space concert at the International Space Station this coming September.

Brightman had reportedly passed all her training and medical tests to date for her $52 million gravity-defying trip. The soprano would have been the eighth paying visitor to the station.
