Eddie Cooper will replace his father Chuck Cooper (who is set for the upcoming Broadway musical Amazing Grace) as the voice of Audrey II in the previously announced Encores! Off-Center presentation of Little Shop of Horrors, starring Ellen Greene, Jake Gyllenhaal and Taran Killam. Joe Grifasi will also join the production as Mushnik. Performances will run on July 1 and 2 at New York City Center. Dick Scanlan will direct.
Alan Menken and Howard Ashman’s giddy, gory musical centers on Seymour Krelborn (Gyllenhaal), a hapless florist who pursues a doomed romance with his ditzy, lovable co-worker Audrey (Greene) by acquiring a plant that feeds on human blood.
Eddie Cooper has appeared on the small screen in Forever, Banshee and Crime. Grifasi’s credits include The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Accidental Death of an Anarchist and Dinner at Eight.
