The Carey Mulligan and Bill Nighy-led Skylight has recouped its entire capitalization. The Tony nominated revival began performances on Broadway on March 13 and officially opened at the Golden Theatre on April 2. Directed by Stephen Daldry, David Hare's play will run through June 21.
Skylight tells the story of a teacher, Kyra Hollis (Mulligan), who receives an unexpected visit from her former lover Tom Sergeant (Nighy) and his son Edward, played by Matthew Beard.
The production is nominated for seven 2015 Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Play, Best Actress in a Play (Mulligan), Best Actor in a Play (Nighy), Best Featured Actor in a Play (Beard), Best Director of a Play (Daldry), Best Scenic Design of a Play (Bob Crowley) and Best Lighting Design of a Play (Natasha Katz).
The show was last seen on Broadway in 1996, when it starred Michael Gambon, Lia Williams and Christian Camargo. The current incarnation recently had an acclaimed run in London's West End.
