Here's a quick roundup of (Disney and Shakespeare-themed) stories you may have missed today.
Adam Jacobs & Courtney Reed Join The Bachelorette
Broadway faves Adam Jacobs and Courtney Reed will be on The Bachelorette the day after the Tonys! Seriously. The Aladdin stars will appear on the ABC show on June 8, where all the men aiming to win Kaitlyn’s (sadly not that fabulous one's) heart, have to audition for a role in the hit Disney musical. Well, we’re sure they all had a shining, shimmering, splendid time even if they didn't end up with a rose (isn't that how it works?!).
Rob McClure & More Set for The Muny
There’s magic on the horizon at the Muny! Recent Honeymoon in Vegas headliner Rob McClure will take on the role of Lumiere in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, starring Broadway alums Kate Rockwell (Rock of Ages) and Nicholas Rodriguez (Tarzan) in the title roles. The cast will also include Nathaniel Hackmann as Gaston, Lenny Wolpe as Maurice, Deidre Goodwin as Babette, Marva Hicks as Mrs. Potts, Steve Rosen as Cogsworth, Michael Hartung as Lefou and Spencer Jones as Chip. Directed by Matt Lenz, with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and book by Linda Woolverton, the family classic will play July 29 through August 7.
Casting Announced for Globe's Richard II
Another show that should be on your radar if you’re crossing the Pond this summer, this time at Shakespeare’s Globe, not least for the wise line: "Things sweet to taste prove in digestion sour." Charles Edwards will star in the Simon Godwin-helmed Richard II, along with Tony nominee Sarah Woodward, Graham Butler and William Gaunt. The production will play July 11 through October 18, with opening night set for July 22.
Watch Jesse Tyler Ferguson Talk The Tempest
Modern Family fave Jesse Tyler Ferguson is currently starring in The Tempest and stopped by Live! With Kelly and Michael on June 2 to chat about appearing at the Delacorte Theater. "It's truly something that New Yorkers love doing," he explained about the Shakespeare in the Park phenom. Check him out below and then in the Bard's classic through July 5.
