Now that the 2015 Tony Awards are over, can we take a second to talk about how ridiculously entertaining Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming were? Hosting Broadway's biggest night is no walk in the park (please, you try keeping an entire theater full of show people amused and on schedule) but Cheno and Cumming pulled it off with fabulous flying colors. The co-hosts kicked off the Tony Awards with a laugh-a-minute medley of quirky quips and sassy songs that showed off their show-stopping talents and frisky chemistry. Cumming performed "Willkommen" from Cabaret, joking that it would be the last time he ever performs the song, or as Chenoweth put it: "Until a revival paycheck comes along." Speaking of that cheeky Cheno, she spent the evening putting the Energizer Bunny to shame with her wacky costume changes ("Eat your heart out, Kelli O'Hara!"), practically tackling Tommy Tune and blowing the roof off Radio City Music Hall with her On the Twentieth Century performance. Yes, she does, indeed, "Got It All." Cumming and Chenoweth kept the ceremony light and fun by being their perfectly goofy selves. Whether they were both claiming to have hooked up with Bradley Cooper, confusing Fun Home with E.T.'s "phooone hooome" or joking about how Hollywood casts adaptations of popular Broadway shows, the two hostesses with the mostesses made the 69th Tony Awards three hours of delightfully devilish fun. Chenoweth and Cumming are two of showbiz's brightest stars for a helluva lot of reasons and we had the privilege of spending the night with them while celebrating all of the things we love about Broadway.
