Broadway alum Betsy Wolfe and newcomer Matt Bittner will lead the eagerly anticipated new musical from Frozen Oscar-winning duo Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez. Directed by Alex Timbers, the previously reported production of Up Here will make its world premiere at La Jolla Playhouse’s Mandell Weiss Theatre, playing a limited engagement July 28 through September 6. Opening night is scheduled for August 9.
When introverted, 30-something computer repairman Dan finds a potential spark with outgoing t-shirt designer Lindsay, his attempts at a relationship are thwarted by the Technicolor world in his head. The musical comedy will bring to life the circus of judgmental, neurotic, ever-changing characters that rule an ordinary man’s mind.
Joining Wolfe (Bullets over Broadway) and Bittner (Public Theater’s Much Ado About Nothing) will be Great White Way alums Andrew Call, Giovanni Cozic, Jeff Hiller, Gizel Jimenez, Zonya Love, Sarah Meahl, Eric Petersen, Devin Ratray, Devere Rogers, Charles South and Nick Verina. The ensemble will feature Kikau Alvaro, Hanz Enyeart, Jacob Haren, April Jo Henry, Tamara Rodriguez, Graham Stevens, N’Jameh Camara, Zakiyah Markland and Lorena Martinez.
The production will feature choreography by Joshua Bergasse, scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Ann Closs-Farley, lighting design by David J. Weiner and sound design by Peter Hylenski.
