Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Broadway Alum Todrick Hall Team Up for Grease-Meets-Hairspray Number

It’s bubblegum/musical theater pop, but it also attacks marginalization! Screen favorite (and man who should be on Broadway) Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Great White Way alum and YouTube sensation Todrick Hall have joined forces to present this Grease and Hairspray homage. Directed and choreographed by Hall, the catchy pastiche below is about defying expectations in the world of high school dancing. Gordon-Levitt’s song, titled “What They Say,” was created for HitRecord on TV, his variety series on Pivot. The school themed-episode airs on June 26. Seeing Gordon-Levitt sing and dance is giving us all sorts of ideas. Perhaps Grease on the small screen? Or on stage in glitter and heels?
