Royal Court Taps Kim Cattrall & Martin McDonagh
Two big names are returning to the London stage as part of the Royal Court’s upcoming season. Kim Cattrall will appear in Penelope Skinner’s Linda, about a marketing executive who realizes she doesn’t have it all. Directed by Constellations’ Michael Longhurst, the Sex and the City star will play the title role in the new play, which is set to begin previews at the Royal Court Theatre on November 25. Opening night is scheduled on December 1. And after successfully penning movies such as In Bruges, four-time Tony nominee Martin McDonagh will come back to the theater with Hangmen, which will make its world premiere from September 10. Starring Reece Shearsmith and David Morrissey, the show follows an executioner on the day that the U.K. abolishes the death penalty. Directed by Matthew Dunster, the production will run through October 10. We'll keep a close eye on both shows—they have West End and Broadway transfer written all over them.
Kevin Chamberlin & More Join Starry Spamalot
Tony nominee Kevin Chamberlin (The Addams Family) will play Sir Bedevere, with Tom Deckman (Spamalot) as Not Dead Fred and Rick Holmes (The Visit) as Sir Lancelot in the previously reported production of Spamalot at the Hollywood Bowl. The trio of Broadway alums joins a cast including Christian Slater, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and the musical’s creator Eric Idle; performances will run July 31 through August 2. B.T. McNicholl directs.
