Julie Andrews to Direct Lady
Julie Andrews, who played Eliza Doolittle in the original Broadway incarnation of My Fair Lady, is set to helm a 60th anniversary production of Lerner and Loewe’s classic tuner! Choreographed by Tony winner Christopher Gattelli (The King and I), the show will bow at Sydney Opera House's Joan Sutherland Theatre in August 2016. “I look forward to coming to Sydney this November to cast the production and begin the process of bringing this great musical to life once again,” said Andrews in a statement. Get Up Close & Personal With Carly Hughes
Before Carly Hughes returns to rouge-ing her knees and rolling her stockings down as Velma Kelly in Chicago on the Great White Way, she’s heading to 54 Below. The Broadway fave will hit the Times Square hotspot on August 7 and perform jazz, pop and everything in between with a whole lot of class and a little bit of sass! Buy tickets here.
Former Co-Stars Team Up With Sutton Foster
Broadway alums Colin Donnell and Megan McGinnis will reunite with the previously reported Sutton Foster and the New York Pops on August 6 at Forest Hills Stadium. If you’re lucky enough to be there, you’ll see Foster performing “I Get a Kick Out of You,” reprising her duet “Flight” with McGinnis and much more.
Chita Rivera to Be Honored by Museum of Dance
The legendary Chita Rivera is set to receive the National Museum of Dance’s Lifetime Achievement Award at its annual gala in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. on August 8. Additionally, The New York Times reports that Mark Morris and Rudolf Nureyev, who died in 1993, will be inducted into the museum’s hall of fame. Rivera was last seen on Broadway earlier this year in The Visit.

More shelf space is required at Eggfartopia! Six-time Tony winner Audra McDonald will be honored at Roundabout’s 50th Anniversary Gala with the Jason Robards Award for Excellence in Theatre. The Spring Gala 2016: Celebrating 50 Years of Extraordinary Theatre is scheduled to take place on February 29, 2016 in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria. Roundabout’s Chairman of the Board Thomas E. Tuft is also set to receive the honor. Congratulations to both!
