Melanie Moore, Adam Dannheisser and Karl Kenzler have joined the cast of the forthcoming Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof. The trio takes on the roles of Chava, Lazar Wolf and Constable, respectively. They join previously announced stars Danny Burstein as Tevye, Jessica Hecht as Golde and Adam Kantor as Motel. The Bartlett Sher-directed revival will begin performances at the Broadway Theatre on November 12. Opening night is set for December 17.
The cast will also include Nick Rehberger as Fyedka. The ensemble will feature Eric Bourne, Jacob Guzman, Reed Luplau, Brandt Martinez, Sarah Faye Parker, Marla Phelan, George Psomas and Jonathan Royse Windham.
Moore can currently be seen as Peter Pan in Finding Neverland on Broadway. She won the eighth season of Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance. Dannheisser most recently appeared on Broadway in Rock of Ages; his additional credits include Cymbeline and The Coast of Utopia. Kenzler’s Broadway credits include the recent revival of You Can’t Take It With You and Mary Poppins.
Featuring a score by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick and a book by Joseph Stein, Fiddler on the Roof takes place in Anatevka, a village in Tsarist Russia during the eve of the revolution. Tevye is a poor milkman who cares for his five daughters. While he and the rest of the elders in the village are deeply routed in tradition, his daughters’ forward thinking clashes with Tevye’s principles and causes a rift in the family.
