Hugh Jackman will tread the boards once more! The Tony winner is set to take his 2011 Great White Way hit Hugh Jackman: Back on Broadway home to Australia this fall. According to Variety, the revamped production, Broadway to Oz, is scheduled to begin performances in Melbourne on November 24, before heading to Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. The arena tour will end in Perth on December 15. Tony winner Warren Carlyle will return to direct and choreograph.
Broadway to Oz will showcase medleys of work that Jackman is known for, as well as tributes to classic tuners. He will be supported by a company of 150 musicians and dancers. “There's dance, there's stories. You're going to get to know the real me in that show,” said Jackman in a statement. “I'll tell you what it's like being in my shoes in my career—both on screen and off, growing up.”
Along with Back on Broadway, Jackman's Great White Way credits include The River, his Tony-winning performance in The Boy From Oz and A Steady Rain. The Oscar nominee's many film and TV credits include Australia, Swordfish, Kate & Leopold, Real Steel, The Prestige, Les Miserables and the X-Men series, including The Wolverine. The star is also set to channel P.T. Barnum in a long-in-the-works movie musical The Greatest Showman on Earth, featuring a new screenplay by Oscar winner Bill Condon, which is scheduled to be released on Christmas Day 2016.
