Here's a quick roundup of stories you may have missed today.
Groban Eyes 2016 B'way Bow
We admit it, we’ve been getting our hopes up for quite some time now, but it looks like Josh Groban really is coming to Broadway next year! “I have cleared the board and made it apparent that 2016 is the time for me to make that leap, “ the Grammy-nominated singer told AJC.com. “It’s the first time in my career that I’ve forced the issue and said, ‘This is what I want to do.’ If it doesn’t happen in 2016, then I’m just a chicken.” Groban’s previously said he’d like to star in something new, but he also has a long relationship with Chess, so he’ll apparently be having a cup of tea with its creator Tim Rice in London (presumably with a spot of milk). We look forward to having you on the Main Stem soon, Mr. Groban.
Delay for Mrs Doubtfire Musical?
It looks like our favorite nanny won’t be hitting the Great White Way in the near future. David Zippel, the lyricist on the previously reported stage adaptation of the hit 1993 film Mrs Doubtfire, has left the project. According to the New York Post, composer Alan Menken and book writer (and as we like to think if it, Broadway Mayor) Harvey Fierstein will remain with the tuner.
