Alex Sharp Set for JCM Movie
Alex Sharp, who recently departed The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, has already got his next gig lined up! The Tony winner has been tapped by Hedwig and the Angry Inch co-creator John Cameron Mitchell for his previously reported upcoming movie How to Talk to Girls at Parties. Unsurprisingly, the film, which will also star current West End darling Nicole Kidman, Tony nominee Ruth Wilson and Elle Fanning, has already had its U.S. distribution rights snapped up by A24. According to Deadline, filming of the Romeo and Juliet-esque tale between punks and aliens starts in November.
BBC Circling Imelda Staunton-Led Gypsy
Broadway.com has learned that discussions are currently taking place for the acclaimed London production of Gypsy, starring Imelda Staunton, to be filmed for broadcast on the BBC. A production spokesperson said that at this stage nothing is confirmed. The Jonathan Kent-helmed revival of the classic musical began performances in the spring and is scheduled to play a limited engagement through November 28 at the West End's Savoy Theatre.
Bebe Neuwirth to Salute Broadway
Tony winner Bebe Neuwirth will host the seventh annual Broadway Salutes event on September 29 at Anita’s Way. Directed by Marc Bruni, Main Stem faves Nikki James, Sydney Lucas and Jake Lucas will each perform a song from three shows that opened the year the Broadway Salutes honorees, professionals who have spent decades working in the business of show, began their careers.
