Hathaway on Poppins Rumors
Spit-spot! As soon as it was confirmed that a new Mary Poppins movie was in the works, speculation started about who would play the world's favorite nanny. Top of the list was Anne Hathaway. How would she feel about taking on the iconic role? “Cool! No one’s talked to me about it,” the Oscar winner and off-Broadway alum told ET. We would add the word "yet" to her statement, concurring with Hathaway's The Intern co-star Robert De Niro, who revealed that he thought she'd be a “terrific” pick. Jersey Boys Walk Like Men Past Miss Saigon
Oh what a night! As of the September 22 performance, the Tony-winning Jersey boys will surpass Miss Saigon with 4,093 performances, becoming the 12th longest-running show in Broadway history. And that’s not the only milestone on the cards. On November 6, Jersey Boys will reach its tenth anniversary on the Great White Way. Hats off to the big men in town, currently playing at the Main Stem's August Wilson Theatre!
Branden Jacobs-Jenkins Wins Big
Playwrights Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and Dominique Morisseau will be honored at the 2015 Steinberg Playwright Awards on November 16; they will each receive $50,000 for their distinctive and compelling voices. Congratulations to both for the prestigious honor.
