Dexter star and stage alum Lauren Luna Vélez will star in the New York premiere of Adam Seidel’s Catch the Butcher. Performances will begin off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theatre on September 23, with opening night set for September 29. Valentina Fratti will direct a cast that also features Jonathan Walker and Angelina Fiordellisi.
The play follows Nancy, who tracks a serial killer after reading his poems to his victims. Soon, she finds herself in his basement.
Vélez is most known for her performance as Captain Maria LaGuerta on the Showtime series Dexter. She appeared in The Happiest Song Plays Last off-Broadway last year. Walker’s Broadway credits include The Assembled Parties and After the Fall. Fiordellisi’s credits include Snow Orchid on stage and Straight Outta Tompkins on screen.
The production features set design by Lauren Helpern, lighting design by Graham Kindred, costumes by Brooke M. Cohen and an original score and sound design by Quentin Chiappetta.
