Zachary Quinto will return to the New York stage this season in Smokefall off-Broadway. The MCC Theater production will begin performances on February 4, 2016 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, where it will run through March 13. Opening night is set for February 22.
Quinto made his Broadway debut in the 2013 revival of The Glass Menagerie, having previously appeared in Angels in America off-Broadway. On screen, he is known for his performance as Spock in the current Star Trek series, as well as Margin Call, American Horror Story, Heroes and The Slap.
Written by Noah Haidle, Smokefall combines magical realism and vaudeville while introducing audiences to two prenatal philosophy-swapping Twins, a dirt-eating Beauty, a Father and Footnote, who acts as the show’s guide. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
The New York premiere production, directed by Anne Kauffman, will feature set design by Mimi Lien (who recently received at MacArthur Foundation “Genius” grant), lighting design by David Weiner, costumes by Asta Hostetter and sound design by Lindsay Jones.
