Shiver With Anticipation! Laverne Cox to Play Frank-N-Furter in Fox's Rocky Horror Picture Show

After much fan speculation, Laverne Cox will do the time warp in Fox's previously reported Rocky Horror Picture Show event special in the fall of 2016. Deadline reports that the Orange Is the New Black star will appear as Frank-N-Furter, the role originally taken on by Tim Curry in the 1975 film.

Kenny Ortega has been tapped to direct the 40th anniversary revival, which is set to be filmed ahead of time, not live. Cox is most known for playing Sophia Burtes on Netflix’s OITNB. She is the first transgender actress to ever be nominated for an Emmy.

The cult classic musical follows Brad and Janet, an innocent couple that seeks shelter in a dark castle, where they encounter a host of unhinged personalities, including the sweet transvestite Dr. Frank-N-Furter and his hunky creation.
