Betty Buckley's Grey Gardens Will Play L.A.
After successfully headlining Grey Gardens this past summer at the Bay Street Theater, Betty Buckley is set to reprise her performance in a production at L.A.’s Ahmanson Theatre. Directed by Michael Wilson, the Tony winner will once again appear opposite Tony nominee Rachel York in the tuner about two of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis’ unconventional relatives. Grey Gardens, which has music by Scott Frankel, a book by Doug Wright and lyrics by Michael Korie, will play July 2, 2016 through August 4. Opening night is scheduled for July 10. Next stop New York?
Alec Baldwin Returns to Broadway
Alec Baldwin, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, Ellen Barkin, Laurence Fishburne, Tony Kushner, Sam Shepard and more big names are joining forces on Broadway in the New Year! Performers will read excerpts from Arthur Miller’s works as part of centennial celebrations for the playwright’s birth. The event is set to take place on January 25, 2016 at the Lyceum Theatre, the venue which is currently playing host to the acclaimed revival of Miller’s A View From The Bridge.
The CW Finds Santino Fontana Charming
Good news for former Prince Charming Santino Fontana! Deadline reports that the CW has ordered five extra episodes of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, the musical comedy that the Tony nominee stars in alongside Rachel Bloom, taking the first season's total to 18. We're sure it was Fontana's hoofing skills that did it.
Aaron Lazar Tapped for The Strain
Aaron Lazar has picked up a multi-episode arc on FX's The Strain! The stage fave, who was most recently seen on Broadway in The Last Ship, announced the news on his Instagram account on November 25, below. The 10-episode third season of the horror drama series will air next year and we can't wait!
