Ariana Grande made her Broadway debut way back when (well, 2008) in Jason Robert Brown's 13, and it seems the pop princess hasn't forgotten her roots! At a recent Brown concert at Hollywood’s Catalina Bar and Grill, Grande surprised the crowd by taking the stage. The dressed-down star performed a trio of songs, two of which were from the tuner. Creative Team Set for Fully Committed
The complete creative team has been announced for the Jesse Tyler Ferguson-led Fully Committed. Penned by Becky Mode and directed by Jason Moore, the production will feature scenic design by Derek McLane, costume design by Sarah Laux, lighting design by Ben Stanton and sound design by Jill BC Du Boff. The comedy is scheduled to play a limited engagement April 2 through July 24 and will officially open on April 25 at the Lyceum Theatre.
Megan Hilty Can Be Your Valentine
Want to spend Valentine’s weekend with a Broadway bombshell? Noises Off’s Megan Hilty will perform classics from the American Songbook in a trio of concerts next month around New Jersey. The show, which will kick off a new NJSO Pops series, will play on February 12 at Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, on February 13 at NJPAC in Newark and on February 14 at State Theatre in New Brunswick.
Jonathan Pryce & More Will Bow at Shakespeare's Globe
We’re dreaming of those summer nights already. The 2016 Wonder Season at Shakespeare’s Globe will include Tony winner Jonathan Pryce in The Merchant of Venice, The Taming of the Shrew, Macbeth, 946 The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips and Imogen (formerly known as Cymbeline). Proceedings will kick off with A Midsummer Night’s Dream on April 30, helmed by Emma Rice, the London venue’s new artistic director. Checking into our air miles situation again.
Tommy Tune Replaces Chita Rivera at Café Carlyle
Icon switcheroo alert. Ten-time Tony winner Tommy Tune will step in for the previously reported legendary Chita Rivera and open the winter season at the Café Carlyle. His new show, Tommy Tune, Tonight!, is scheduled to play January 12 through January 22. Rivera is recovering from an injury she sustained over the Christmas holiday resulting in a pelvis stress fracture and will now appear at the New York hotspot April 19 through April 30.
