So as we all know by now, Channing Tatum channeled his inner Elsa on January 7, competing against his wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, on Lip Sync Battle. What did the real Queen Elsa, Broadway supernova Idina Menzel, make of his, uhm, committed performance to her vocals? "I got chills! And not because I'm an ice queen," the Tony winner tweeted. Marin Mazzie is in Remission
Happy news from Broadway favorite Marin Mazzie, who has been battling ovarian cancer. Her husband, fellow Main Stem star Jason Danieley, tweeted on January 8 that the three-time Tony nominee is in remission. Everyone here at Broadway.com wishes the duo all the best as she continues on her path to a full and safe recovery.
All the Way's May Bow
The HBO film adaptation of Robert Schenkkan’s Tony-winning All the Way will premiere on the network in May. Directed by Jay Roach, the drama stars Bryan Cranston (who reprises his Tony-winning performance as Lyndon B. Johnson), Tony winner Frank Langella as Senator Richard Russell and Broadway alum Bradley Whitford as Hubert Humphrey.
Shakespeare Gets a Shekhar Kapur Makeover
This sounds like must-see viewing. Elizabeth director Shekhar Kapur is turning his attention to Shakespeare and is set to direct a pilot of Will for TNT. Deadline reports that British newcomer Laurie Davidson has been tapped for the title role; the drama will be penned by longtime Baz Luhrmann collaborator Craig Pearce. We’re keeping an eye on this one…
