Amazon Renews Bernadette Peters' Mozart in the Jungle
Ready for more Bernadette Peters binge-watching? Amazon has renewed Mozart in the Jungle, which stars the Tony winner and self-confessed doganizer, for a third season. Led by Gael García Bernal and Lola Kirke, the show is set to begin production later this year and will continue the story of the talented musicians who perform and live with passion under the baton of their spirited conductor. LaChanze & Lindsay Mendez Team Up
Tony winner LaChanze (The Color Purple) and Wicked alum Lindsay Mendez are the latest Main Stem faves to board the all-star lineup of Inspirational Broadway. They will join Billy Porter, Norm Lewis, Telly Leung and many more singing Great White Way, gospel, pop and rock classics with a "stirring and spiritual twist." The one-night-only concert will benefit Broadway Inspirational Voices’s outreach programs and is set to take place on February 15 at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill. Note that previously announced participants Renee Elise Goldsberry and Eden Espinosa have withdrawn owing to scheduling conflicts.
Casting Set for London's The Truth
As promised, we're keeping an eye on this production—it has legs. Tanya Franks (EastEnders), Alexander Hanson (Stephen Ward), Frances O’Connor (Tom & Viv) and Robert Portal (Around the World in 80 Days) have been tapped for Florian Zeller’s The Truth. Directed by Lindsay Posner, the new version by Christopher Hampton will play a limited engagement at London’s buzzy Menier Chocolate Factory (Broadway's The Color Purple revival originated there) from March 10 through May 7. Opening night is set for March 16. The show follows two couples. Friendship, suspicion, deceit….and the truth. Note that Zeller’s The Father, again with a translation by Hampton, is about to return to the West End and begin performances on Broadway.
