Oscar winner Rachel Weisz will return to the stage in David Hare’s Plenty. The off-Broadway revival will be part of the Public Theater’s 2016-17 season. David Leveaux, a Tony nominee for Jumpers, Nine and others, will direct the production. Additional casting and dates will be announced later.
Weisz last appeared on the New York stage in the 2013 revival of Betrayal, making her Broadway debut opposite her husband Daniel Craig. She won an Oscar in 2006 for The Constant Gardener. Her additional credits include Youth, The Lobster, The Deep Blue Sea and the upcoming Denial on screen and an Olivier-winning performance in A Streetcar Named Desire in the West End.
Plenty centers on Susan Traherne (Weisz), a British secret agent in France. The play follows her time during World War II and the two decades that follow. Hare’s drama premiered at the Public in 1982 before transferring to Broadway.
