After shining brightly in Constellations on Broadway last season, Jake Gyllenhaal is aiming to return to the Main Stem in Lanford Wilson’s Burn This. According to the New York Post, the production will be helmed by Tony winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening). No word yet on dates or theater.
Burn This centers on four New Yorkers whose lives are uprooted by a young dancer's accidental death. The play premiered off-Broadway in 1987, later transferring to the Great White Way. The Signature Theatre Company revived the show off-Broadway 2002.
Gyllenhaal made his New York stage debut in If There Is I Haven’t Found It Yet and starred in the revival of Kenneth Lonergan's This is Our Youth in London's West End in 2002; he recently appreared in Little Shop of Horrors for Encores!. The actor earned an Oscar nomination for his performance in Brokeback Mountain and his additional film credits include Prisoners, Enemy, Source Code, Love and Other Drugs, End of Watch, Donnie Darko, Nightcrawler and Everest.
