Rob McClure has a rotten project up his sleeves! The Broadway favorite will join the cast of Something Rotten!, taking over for fellow Tony nominee Brian d’Arcy James as Nick Bottom. D’Arcy James will play his final performance at Broadway's St. James Theatre on May 29; McClure will step in the first week of June.
McClure most recently appeared on Broadway as Tim Allgood in the revival of Noises Off. His additional credits include Honeymoon in Vegas and a Tony-nominated performance as the title role in Chaplin.
Directed by Casey Nicholaw, Something Rotten! features a score by Wayne Kirkpatrick and Karey Kirkpatrick and a book by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell. Set in the 1590s, the show follows brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom, who are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard" (Borle). When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theater involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical
McClure will join a cast that currently includes John Cariani, Tony winner Christian Borle, Heidi Blickenstaff, Brad Oscar, Kate Reinders, David Beach, Edward Hibbert, Gerry Vichi and André Ward.
