Legendary director Hal Prince, who has been honored during his career with a record-breaking 21 Tony Awards, is set to take on Leonard Bernstein’s Candide for New York City Opera. According to the New York Times, the show will be based on previous Prince productions of the work, both at City Opera and on Broadway, and is scheduled to open on January 6 at the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Bacharach Reimagined to Hit Record Stores
Anyone who had a heart will be thrilled with this news! Ghostlight Records is set to release the original London cast recording of Kyle Riabko’s Close to You: Bacharach Reimagined in digital formats on June 24, with two-disc physical copies online and in stores from July 1. Seen in New York and London, the show revitalizes the catalogue of the iconic American composer for a new generation and includes reimagined versions of classics such as “Alfie,” “I Say a Little Prayer,” “Walk On By,” “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head” and “What’s New Pussycat?”

Comet & Mark Rylance Triumph at Elliot Norton Awards
The Broadway-bound Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 was one of the big winners at Boston’s recent 34th annual Elliot Norton Awards, with the American Repertory Theater production picking up Outstanding Musical Production by a Large Theater, Outstanding Director for Rachel Chavkin and Outstanding Design. Meanwhile, three-time Tony and Oscar winner Mark Rylance garnered the prize of Outstanding Actor for his work in A.R.T’s West End-bound Nice Fish. Congratulations to all!

Jesse Tyler Ferguson Likes the Lyceum's Roof
Jesse Tyler Ferguson is currently portraying more than 40 characters in Fully Committed at Broadway's Lyceum Theatre, and is thoroughly enjoying it after many years of theater in outdoor venues. "This is for the first time in like, eight years, that I've been under a roof...which is really nice," the Modern Family star joked to Seth Meyers on May 24.
