No, this isn’t a fever dream induced by pre-Tony Awards insomnia. Barbra Streisand recorded A Chorus Line’s power trio “At the Ballet” with Anne Hathaway and Daisy Ridley, and you can listen to it below.
The track is a part of Streisand’s new album, Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway, which is set for an August 26 release. In addition to Oscar winner Hathaway and Star Wars alum Ridley (who Streisand is apparently courting for her Gypsy movie), the roster includes Babs partnering with Jamie Foxx on "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," Melissa McCarthy on "Anything You Can Do" and Seth MacFarlane on "Pure Imagination."
If their powerhouse vocals—including a high E from Hathaway, which Streisand immediately riffs off of—weren’t enough, Babs adds dialogue throughout the entire track to set the mood. We’re trying to imagine a universe in which Streisand, Hathaway and Ridley would be up for the same role at a “cattle call,” but we’ll try not to think about it too much and just give in to this glorious gift.
